Pap The Question founder and top paparazzi James Ambler worked for almost a decade with celebrities before changing to the world of true romance and marriage proposals. Now he uses his skills to be a hidden photographer to wedding proposals across the world.
Leaving behind a career snapping Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Anniston, the British photographer has created a niche by taking pictures of the truest moment of trust between a couple–The Question.
Inspired by his own proposal experience, 31-year-old James is definitely no stranger to the nerve wracking planning of getting down on one knee.
“My friends all asked me and I had no good answer why I didn’t have any pictures,” explained James who is married.
“But that was why I thought to myself, no one ever has that moment, probably the most spontaneous moment captured on film to show their grandkids.
“Now with Pap The Question, they do.”
Just as wedding planners work to ensure a seamless marriage, James and his multi-national crew spread across the country from Los Angeles to Chicago to Philadelphia are on hand as the engagement planners.
“Guys come to us and we sit down with them and work out various scenarios based on what they want their perfect proposal to be,” said James who runs Pap The Question from offices in New York City.
“That wonderful, unexpected moment when she says yes and she smiles and the relief on his face is there to be photographed too.
“We are here to tell the story of that day and we follow couple from start to finish depending on what the guy has asked us to do.”
“We tell the guys not to hold their new fiancés left hand after a successful proposal,” explained James.
“The secret pictures should be the girl staring at the new rock on her left hand, so if they guy is holding that hand it ruins that picture. We tell the guys that beforehand.”
Boasting over four dozen successfully snapped proposals across America from Central Park to Venice Beach inLos Angeles, James and Pap The Question have a 100 percent record.
“Every guy who has come to see me has succeeded,” explained James.
